Research Guides

The Rothschild Archive is much more than a single collection of material. It is rather a collection of collections, each reflecting the business and personal interests of the Rothschild family across Europe.

Overview of the collections

The business records of the London firm, N M Rothschild & Sons, form the core of the Archive, reflecting the activities of the other banks through many series of correspondence and accounts that circulated between them. Material relating to the other business houses survives in limited quantities. The collections of business records are supplemented by deposits of family and personal papers, reflecting the public and private interests of members of the family.
